Welcome to the fundamentals of hydraulic yoga. This class is open to those who have a basic grasp of polydiaphragmatic breathing. In this class we will use the breath to generate body shape and motion with a next level kind of structural integrity and functional strength.

In Level I we learned how to breathe with more than 44 diaphragms. In doing so we found that we could cause the entire body to expand in all directions. We felt ourselves get longer and wider on the inhale.  We felt it retract and collapse on the exhale.

We also learned how to alternate the breath, from the right side to the left side. Many of you have learned how to use the breath to flex/extend, turn and side bend the neck. Some of you have explored how to use the hydraulic system to go from lying down to sitting up, and from sitting up to standing with minimal effort, less pain and strain on your connective tissues. You’ve had a taste of what it’s like to use your muscles like kite strings rather than towing cables.

In this class, we will greatly expand your capacity to use the latent super powers of your hydraulic system. We will use simple and traditional yoga postures to develop your skills as well as the normal activities of life. Your hydraulic system is not limited to your yoga mat!

On any given day, do you find yourself stepping into your pants, putting on socks and shoes, getting in/out of bed, having a bowel movement, carrying groceries, backing up your car, restraining a dog that’s pulling on the leash, picking up children and their toys, and so on and so on? What activities are a part of your everyday life that pinch, pressurize, overstretch, tear, click, pop or otherwise cause pain? Let’s change that! In doing so, we will use your daily activities of life to heal the pain, while increasing your vitality and immune function.

Dr. Teves graduated from Touro University California (College of Osteopathic Medicine) in 2009.
