This class combines the traditional elements of Hatha Yoga with the synchronized, breath-directed movements of a more vigorous Flow. This gentle yet challenging practice incorporates traditional sun and moon salutes, restorative poses and sequences, meditation and pranayama (breath work) with standing poses, seated poses, inversions, twists, and back-bends to deepen and refine the awareness of the body and mind. The use of props and modifications enables students to work through physical limitations, stiffness, or strain with comfort and ease. Postures are practiced mindfully and with detailed awareness of alignment to create stability and balance. The cumulative effect achieved by practicing specific sequences allows the body to open and develop energetically. The timing of longer holds serves to anchor consciousness in the physical body, and affects the individual on an organic, mental and spiritual level. Seamless awareness of the breath and breath-based movements create a flowing state of presence. The practice closes with a deeply calming final relaxation (shavasana). You will leave feeling grounded, rejuvenated and refreshed! Open to all.
