Restorative yoga is a gentle and nurturing practice. The poses are held with little to no effort through the use of various props including bolsters, blankets, blocks, chairs, pillows, straps, and even the wall. The sequences are designed to aid in reducing stress and anxiety, regulating the nervous system, developing proper breathing mechanics, and promoting overall well-being. The instructor will offer guidance and suggestions of ways to modify, and find the most comfortable position and use of the props. By attuning to the sensations of the body, and directing awareness inward (interoception) we are enhancing the mind-body connection and our capacity for self-regulation. This is a class that can be enjoyed by all, regardless of age, ability, or level of fitness.
